SBA Newsletter – June 2025

At last, summer weather is here, and sunny days at the beach are just around the corner!

Thank you for attending the AGM

First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our 2025 Annual General Meeting or submitted a proxy form. In total, 37 members participated, representing just over a third of our membership. We truly appreciate your involvement.

During the meeting, we made updates to some of the bylaws adopted last year to clarify certain points. All proposals were accepted with very few changes. The updated version will be available on our website in the coming weeks.

We also discussed the dock repair project once again and took the opportunity to warmly thank the volunteers who made it possible.

Additionally, the restoration of the access path to the beach site is now underway. A budget of $2,500 was approved at the AGM for this project. We will soon be looking for volunteers and hope many of you will be ready to lend a hand. Rest assured, the design options will be shared via a survey so you can vote for the one you prefer.

Annual Membership Fee

On the financial front, members voted to maintain the annual fee at $65 — the same as last year. You should have already received an email asking you to renew your membership. We kindly ask that you submit your payment by July 1st to enjoy full access to the beach with your family and friends as soon as possible.

Continuing conversation

Regarding the operation of the Association and the Board, we are committed to meeting regularly and keeping you informed about project developments through this newsletter.    We have concluded that it is the most effective and transparent way to provide updates at regular intervals, allowing you to stay informed on the progress of various initiatives and ongoing discussions. Do not hesitate to ask us questions on any subject at any time.

Traffic Changes on Lake Drive

If you've been on Lake Drive recently, you may have noticed the pilot traffic reorganization project underway.

The Township is currently installing signage and other infrastructure, which should be completed before the Canada Day long weekend. Once implemented, vehicles will only be permitted to travel eastbound. The north side of the street will be reserved for pedestrians and cyclists.

A Word from the President

To conclude, Kathy and I want to sincerely thank you for the trust you’ve placed in us once again. Our mandates were renewed unanimously, which touched us deeply.                       We will continue our work with the same level of diligence and transparency.

A special thank you to Ian Robinson, who served as the election officer, assisted by our Vice-President, Natasha.

We look forward to seeing you on the beach very soon!

Warm regards,

Claire Francoeur President, on behalf of the SBA Executive Committee
