April News from Springwood Beach

Dear Members,
Despite the recent cold weather, spring has finally arrived—and with it, a new summer season is on the horizon for our beach! Here are the topics that will keep us busy over the coming weeks:
📅 Annual General Meeting – Save the Date!
You are cordially invited to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be held on Saturday, May 24th, at 9:30 am at the Chapel in De La Salle Park.
(This is the weekend after the long weekend.)
This is a key moment in the life of our association, where we will review the past year's activities and discuss the projects ahead.
Your presence is essential to ensure fair member representation and to make your voice heard. The official agenda and supporting documents will be sent to you in the coming days.
🗳️ Elections for President and Secretary Positions
This year, two executive committee positions are up for election: President and Secretary.
In accordance with our Code of Conduct, we are looking for three volunteers to serve on the Electoral Committee to oversee the election process. The roles and responsibilities are detailed in the appendix attached to this message.
Members interested in running for either position are invited to submit their intention by email no later than April 24th to: springwoodbeachassociationnews@gmail.com
🏖️ Beach Beautification Projects
The dock is looking great this April. Neither the heavy snow nor the ice storm affected its structure or appearance. Let’s hope the ice melts slowly to avoid any complications.
Beautification work will continue this Spring, with several initiatives being considered. All projects will be submitted for your approval before any action is taken.
We are currently planning:
Improved beach access with a ramp to facilitate movement for people with reduced mobility, strollers, and the transport of paddleboards, kayaks, etc.
Installation of benches and shaded areas to enhance member comfort

🚸 Public Consultation on Traffic – Lake Drive
Last December, the Town of Georgina held a public consultation on traffic along Lake Drive, which runs through our waterfront area. The municipality was gathering public feedback on its new transportation plan aimed at improving the coexistence of drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Our association actively participated in the consultation, representing the concerns and proposals of our members. We specifically emphasized:
The safety of pedestrians and families with children
The need to reduce vehicle speeds
The importance of clear and safe cycling infrastructure
On March 5 2025, the municipality approved a pilot project that will launch this summer to test new layout measures for safer and more harmonious shared use of the road. You can view the details of the project at :
