Dear Members of the Springwood Beach Association,
We hope you are enjoying the winter, whether here or in the warm sunshine of your favorite destination. The ice, though fragile, has completely covered Simcoe Lake, making way for winter sports. With spring just around the corner, we would like to update you on the first discussions held by the Board of Directors of the Association.
On Tuesday, January 16, the 5 members met virtually for the Board’s first meeting and, from the outset, everyone reaffirmed their intention to put the association on a solid footing, manage it transparently, and be accountable to you. We hope to maintain the friendly climate that has characterized the beach over the years. Since then, we held 3 additional meetings.
Priority action items have been identified as:
1. To draw up a charter that would allow the association to be incorporated (which would
put us in a better position to negotiate with the Township).
2. To protect the members with an insurance cover against any claims that might arise in
the event of an accident or incident on the beach or the dock.
3. To provide a communication tool where the essential documents of the Association,
such as budgets, legal documents, and all information relevant to the management of the
Association will be accessible at all times to the members.
Without further notice, we are getting down to work and will keep you informed of the progress of our projects. We also plan to consult you on the main issues at stake in the management of the beach and publish a quarterly newsletter summarizing our progress.
Before we leave you, we would like you to reserve the morning of Saturday, May 25th as a potential date for our first AGM. The agenda will be shared with you later this spring.
We look forward to discussing with you the future of the Association.
The Committee of the Springwood Beach Association
Claire, Natalja, Kathy, Sherri and Dave
